Up for Auction is a Lustrous 1924-s Key Date Saint-Gaudens Gold $20 Double EagleDelightful golden-orange surfaces display a bold strike and full, softly frosted luster. The 1924-S is one of several Saint-Gaudens double eagles from the 1920s and early 1930s that did not see widespread use in international commerce. Rather, most of the 2,927,500 coins struck remained in federal vaults until melted in 1937. Most of the few Mint State survivors represent coins that were exported at or near the time of issue and repatriated beginning circa 1950. This is a highly desirable Choice Uncirculated representative of this key date issue.
