HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Just as on their gold double eagle counterparts, the upswell of religious sentiment during and after the conclusion of the Civil War in 1865 led to the introduction of the With Motto silver dollars, forming a separate subtype with IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. The first-year 1866 Motto silver dollar proof coinage was 725 pieces, and this coin is among the few finest survivors. The fields are dazzling and deeply reflective against heavily frosted devices, and the strike is pinpoint-sharp throughout, giving the appearance of a coin that was carefully made and carefully preserved.
