(Strasbourg: 1790) In the aftermath of the French Revolution of 1789 and the subsequent emancipation of the Spanish-Portuguese Jews of Bordeaux, Bayonne, Avignon and the Comtat Venaissin - the German Jews of the Alsace petitioned the French National Assembly for the rights of citizenship.
