After analyzing from a Marxist perspective the phenomenon of immigration in general, Frumkin pays special attention to the immigration of Russian Jews to America. He notes that Jewish immigrants are unique in that they often settle permanently in order to escape persecution in their home country. Boris Frumkin (b. 1892) was pioneer of the Bund and among its most prominent publicists; he was also the first historian of the Jewish labor movement in Russia. From the middle 1890s, Frumkin ranked among the leading ideologists of the Jewish Social Democrat circles in Minsk. (JVL).
