It was launched by artists who had seceded from its rival ‘Puck.’ This satiric depiction envisions Jews having taken over New York City: Soldiers with stereotypical Jewish features marching along ‘Levi Street’ (formerly Canal Street) with all store-fronts bearing by Jewish names.
