(ELIJAH, GAON OF VILNA). Tikunei HaZohar, with: Tikunim from Zohar Chadash. With commentary Biur HaGr”a. FIRST EDITION OF COMMENTARY. Two titles. pp. (10), 344, 104. Stained, marginal repairs, final leaf with loss of text. Modern boards. 4to. Vinograd, Gr’a 724. Vilna, Fuenn and Rosencrantz, 1867. Published by the philanthropist Shmarya Zuckerman - (the Gaon was his wife's great-grandfather) - who collected and published many of the Gaon’s writings. The present edition is particularly noteworthy as it was published directly from the Gaon’s autograph manuscript as opposed to notes recorded by students. The introduction records the comment by R. Avraham, the son of the Gr’a, noting that his father wrote thirty works on the Zohar and would not be ashamed to recite them to R. Shimon b’r Yochai himself! It is a custom among many communities to study portions of this work daily, especially during the month of Elul through Yom Kippur. See the forty day calendar at the end of the introduction.
