The author (c.1450-1526) was one of the most outstanding Rabbinic authorities of the Ottoman Empire. His responsa are of great historical interest, written amidst the turbulence of the Spanish Inquisition and the concerns of those Spanish-Jewish exiles who migrated to Turkey.
