RARE.  Naphtali Hertz Altschuler lived in Lublin, Mezhiritch, and Zhitomir. His Aggadic commentary Ayalah Sheluchah - “Swift as a Deer” (see Gen. XLIX: 21) is a literary reference to his own name. In his preface, the Author pays tribute to his mentor, Baruch ben Yoseph Axelrod, as well as teachings he recorded from his travels through German Lands along with encounters with those teachers who maintained a Spanish tradition of exegesis.
