Yoseph Samegah (d. 1629) settled in Venice, where he served as rabbi. He later founded a yeshiva in Padua, among his students there were R. Chaim Benveniste and R. Yoseph Shlomo Delmegido.   R. Yoseph Samegah also composed Porath Yosef (Venice, 1590) the highly regarded super-commentary to the Talmud.
