The author (1518–1587) was a disciple of the famed Kabbalist R. Moshe Cordovero. R. Yoseph Poieto, himself a kabbalist, created this abridged version of the Reishith Chochmah, which became extremely popular, going through twenty-five editions over the next two and a half centuries. Tikunei Shabbath by R. Avraham Halevi Bruchim is an important source for many mystical practices relating to observing the Sabbath.
