Dordrecht / Amsterdam, first edition 1702 (or later): Derived from the Nicholas Visscher map of 1650. This is a later issue, as Daniel Stoopendaal’s name is absent from the title cartouche. Stoopendaal (1672-1726) was responsible for the elaborate decorative engraved work in the lower quadrant of the map, depicting various scenes from the Book of Exodus including Moses receiving the Tablets of Law, producing water from a rock, the encampments of the Israelites, etc.
