(LITURGY). Seder Tephiloth KeMinhag Ashkenaz VePolin. Edited by David b. Menachem HaKohen. Historiated title-page featuring Venus. Printed in two columns without Nekudoth. ff. 10. Browned and lightly stained, stamp on title. Modern boards. 8vo. Vinograd, Hanau 50. Hanau, Hans Jakob Hena, 1628. ONLY ONE OTHER COPY RECORDED  of these Hanua prayers, presently in the Bodleian Library (see Steinschneider CB no. 2130). According to the poetic title page, the publisher previously issued a pocket Shulchan Aruch (Hanau, 1627) suitable for travelers. He now performs another service for travelers so that they have an easily portable pocket prayer-book as well. Indeed the first prayer printed after the morning Brachoth is Tephilath HaDerech (the wayfarers prayer). Apparently the Siddur was published without nekudoth in order to save space and make the finished production a light, easily transportable volume. Again, suitable for a traveler.
