FULLER, THOMAS. - Portion of the Tribe of Reuben. Hand-colored. 11 x 13 inches (28 x 33 cm) to mat. Finely framed. London, first edition 1650, (or later): This map depicts the inheritance of the Tribe of Reuben, sandwiched between the inheritance of Gad to the north and the Ammonites and Moabites to the south. Biblical scenes are depicted, such as the Israelites crossing the Jordan into Eretz Israel, Elijah’s fiery ascent to Heaven and Moses gazing upon the Holy Land from Mount Pisgah. The tribe's emblem, a shield, appears below the dedication. The map is dedicated to Paulus Pindar, a financier of Fuller’s historical and cartographical works.
