An early owner “Yonathan Kolon” inscribes and signs on last page. pp. 72. Variously stained. Recent boards. 8vo. (Mantua, Italy), 17th-century. Liturgical and meditative Kabbalah-derived incantations prepared by R. Moses Zacuto (1625-97), of whom the introductory page notes “his merit protects our city” (punning on his name of Zacuto (Heb. “Zechuto.”).  Rabbi Moses Zacuto (also known as Zacut) was born into a Converso family who settled in Amsterdam, where he studied under Rabbi Shaul HaLevi Morteira. A mystic by inclination, he then studied Kabbalah under the tutelage of a student of Rabbi Hayyim Vital, Rabbi Benjamin HaLevi.
