VITAL, CHAIM. Sha’ar HaMitzvoth - VeSha’ar HaPesukim. Hebrew manuscript written in an Oriental rabbinic hand on thick paper. Two parts in one. ff. 48, 77. Opening 15 leaves with puncture affecting a few words on each leaf. Modern boards. Sm. folio. c. 1700.    R. Chaim Vital is renowned for recording and editing the teachings of his mentor, the Ari-Zal. R. Chaim Vital’s youngest son, R. Shmuel Vital, organized a collection of his father’s writings into eight “gates.”  The fourth of these is Sha’ar HaPesukim, and the fifth is Sha’ar HaMitzvoth, which delves into the Kabbalistic meanings behind the Mitzvoth, in order of their appearance in the Torah.  Provenance: Formerly in the collection of Shaindle & Yehuda Elberg, Montreal.  With a description of the manuscript by Dr. Yosef Avivi.
