(LITURGY). Selichoth. Hebrew manuscript of penitential prayers according to the customs of the community in Worms. Written in an ornate, attractive Aschkenazi hand, brown ink on paper. pp. 61. Occasional staining. Contemporary boards, worn and loose. Sm. 4to.  A charming manuscript of Yotzaroth, Kerovoth and Selichoth, finely written with lovely shading. The opening prayer, “Mi Eder VeHod Alav” is an Aschkenazi yotzer for Parshath Bereishith, and which appears in just a handful of Aschkenazi rites.  On the opening blank is a curious colophon:  “I, Moshe Mordechai Katzenellenbogen, Shochet and Sofer here, Bialystok, Russia, in the year “Shele’g” (or [5]333 - 1573 ).” - Yet no Jews lived in Bialystok until a century after this date!
