Pri Megadim ("Choice Fruits") is a widely referenced work on the Shulchan Aruch. It is composed as a super-commentary on the major commentators: Mishbetzoth Zahav on Turei Zahav; Eshel Avraham on Magen Avraham; and Sifthei Da'ath on Siftei Kohen. Pri Megadim is however seen as authoritative in its own right, often quoted, for example, by the Mishnah Berurah.
R. Yoseph ben Meir Teomim (1727-92) became known after the title of this well received work. His father, R. Meir Teomim was Dayan and Rosh Yeshiva in Lemberg and the primary teacher of his son. R. Yoseph married in Komarno where he spent a decade before moving to Berlin in 1767 at the invitation of Daniel Itzig to co-head a Beth Midrash there along with R. Hirschel Levin. Following his father's death in 1771, R. Yoseph Teomim returned to Lemberg, eventually becoming Dayan there. In 1782 he was appointed Rabbi at Frankfurt an der Oder, where he remained until his death and where he is buried.
