FANO, MENACHEM AZARIAH DA & OVADIAH SFORNO. Yemin Hashem Romemah [responsa on Hakafoth based on ruling by R. Shmuel Algazi, drawing upon Kabbalistic sources]. FIRST EDITION. Complete in four leaves. Title laid to size with stamp and early signature. Modern calf. 4to. Vinograd, Venice 988; Mehlman 1693 (for response cf. 1694). Venice, Giovanni di Gara, 1605. Title page is eye-catching in its bold and most uncommon use of the Shem Havaya, the Tetragrammaton. Concerns the Halachic dispute over the waving of the Lulav, and correct practices in general regarding precedence of right-side over left-side, based upon the Talmud dictum (Sotah 15b): ”All turns that one turns should always be to the right.” Includes examples of differing customs as practiced by Jews from Austria and the Rhineland. For more regarding this issue, see Y. Yudlov, Sinai, 84, (1979) p. 167 (note 10).
