The work is accompanied with a warning issued by the Beth Din of Vilna stating that no-one should accept as authentic the writings of the Vilna Gaon unless prior validated by the Beth Din. - Apparently, soon after upon the Gaon's death in 1797, dubious writings circulated that were falsely ascribed to him.
