Born in Agadir, southwestern Morocco, the author (c. 1774 - c. 1842) who studied in Salé under Rabbi Judah Anhori, proved himself to be a most colorful character. Due to unstable social conditions in his native land, Edrehi migrated to London, then to Amsterdam, before finally settling in Jerusalem.
