Yad Avshalom (see Samuel II, 18:18) consists of essays connecting verses from different parts of Mishlei in order to develop various coherent ideas. The author titled and dedicated the work to his son-in-law Avshalom, who passed away just weeks following his marriage.

R. Yitzchak Arama (c. 1420-94) who served as rabbi in several Spanish communities before the expulsion of 1492, is best known for his Akeidath Yitzchak (first edition: Salonika, 1522) a collection of philosophical and allegorical commentaries to the Chumash that exercised great influence on subsequent Jewish thought.
