Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Moses ben Baruch Almosnino (c. 1515-80) was a prolific rabbinic scholar whose many works demonstrate extensive knowledge of science, philosophy, history, and rhetoric.

His Halachic responsa appear in the collections of contemporaries such as Samuel de Medina (MaHaRaSHDa’M), and Jacob di Boton. Alongside Hebrew commentaries to the Five Megilloth (Yedei Moshe, 1582), the Chumash and prayer book (Tefillah LeMoshe, 1563), R. Moshe Almosnino also published in Judeo-Spanish.
