WOSNER, SHMUEL. (“The Shevet HaLevi, ” 1913-2015). Autograph Letter Signed, written in Hebrew on letterhead to Rabbi Yisrael Rosenberg. A letter of Haskamah for R. Rosenberg’s Devar LeMishpat (Bnei Brak, 1987), a Halachic study on commercial law. R. Wosner writes that the book is written with honesty, clarity and is appropriately rooted from the minds of the great Poskim. “The book is particularly welcome as nowadays too many people consult their own common sense only, rather than the Halacha.” R. Wosner adds a postscript of further sources (which displays, in a way that written praise cannot, the degree by which R. Wosner appreciated the book itself). WITH: Two Autograph addressed envelopes (with personalized return address). One page. Bnei Brak, Parshath Acharei Moth-Kedoshim, 1986. Viennese-born R. Shmuel Halevi Wosner was a brilliant Posek who authored ten volumes of highly regarded responsa known as Shevet Halevi, the title by which R. Wosner became renowned throughout the rabbinic world. A student at R. Meir Shapiro's Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, R. Wosner emigrated to Jerusalem before WWII. He settled in Bnei Brak where he studied under the great rabbis of the time, including the Tchebiner Rav and R. Isser Zalman Meltzer. For some seventy years R. Wosner led a yeshiva named after Chachmei Lublin, located in the Zichron Meir section of Bnei Brak.
