SONNENFELD, YOSEPH CHAIM (Head of the Eidah HaChareidith of Jerusalem, 1848-1932). Typed Letter Signed written on letterhead in Hebrew to R. Chaim Yisrael Eiss of Zurich. Fundraising letter from the Diskin Orphan Asylum. Also signed by Diskin administrators, Rabbis DovBer Halevi Epstein and Moshe Leib Bernstein, along with the stamped signatures of Rabbis Shalom Yitzchak Roshkes and Eliyahu Klatzkin. One page. Jerusalem, 2nd Adar I, 1929. The Jerusalem Diskin Orphanage was established by R. Yehoshua Leib Diskin in 1881. Galician-born, R. Chaim Yisrael Eiss (1876–1943) moved to Switzerland in 1900 where rose to become a founding member of Agudath Israel and one of its supreme activists.
