Fondly known as “Reb Ya’akov, ” R. Ya’akov Kamenetsky was known both for his exceptional learning and his charismatic warmth. He was of the generation of great Lithuanian rabbis who were inordinately influential upon American Orthodox Jewry in the post-war era. Dozens of his descendants serve in key education leadership positions throughout the Orthodox Jewish world.
