Avraham Mordechai Alter, known as the “Imrei Emeth, ” was the founder and spiritual leader of the Agudath Israel movement. Dynastic head of more than 100,000 Chassidim in pre-war Poland, he led as an Admo’r for more than forty years. He succeeded his father R. Yehudah Aryeh Leib (the Sefath Emess) in 1905.
