Cambridge, Welch Bigelow, circa, 1864. Scarce. A memorial to Lieutenant Colonel Chandler, 57th Massachusetts Infantry, killed at the Battle of North Anna River, Va., May 24, 1864. The book references Color Sergeant Leopold Karpeles who had been shot, yet only went to the rear upon Chandler’s insistence. States that Karpeles was “inconsolable” upon learning of Chandler’s death.
