A fascinating conglomeration of hundreds of articles encompassing subjects of both religious and literary merit, as well as much contemporary news from around the Jewish world. The editor, Marcus Heymann Bresslau (1807-64), was a German-Jewish journalist and Hebraist who settled in London as a youth. He was affiliated with the ”Hebrew Review” the monthly publication edited by Dr. M.J. Raphall from 1834-36. Bresslau revived the Hebrew Review in 1859, but after just one year, the project ended.
