WERNER, DAVID. (Orthodox Rabbi in Rhode Island, 1900-59). Autograph Letter Signed written in Hebrew on letterhead to Rabbi Yehoshua Baumol. This letter begs apology for the lack of a substantive reply and payment upon the receipt of “your important book.” Rabbi Warner attests he is very busy which pains him as he he owes many authors replies and payments. Due to time constraints he only replies after enough new books accumulate - rather than following receipt of each individual volume. One page. Folds. 4to. Providence, Rhode Island.10th Ellul, 1947. Rabbi David Warner was the rabbi of Sons of Zion, the first Orthodox congregation in Rhode Island, founded in 1892. A respected posek, he was the rabbi to whom Rabbi Shraga Feivel Mendelowitz turned to for a halachic ruling concerning the ‘Malochim’ sect which arose in the halls of his yeshiva, Torah Vodaath. Rabbi Baumol’s grandson was the late Rabbi Dr. Norman Lamm of Yeshiva University.
