TEITELBAUM, YOEL (Grand Rebbe of Satmar, 1887-1979). PERSONAL MONOGRAMMED PILLOW-CASE. “F - T - J” (i.e. Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum and Rebbetzin Faige Teitelbaum). Artistically framed. Pillowcase: 4.5 x 5 inches. Frame size: 17.5 x 17. 5 inches. PILLOW-CASE USED BY THE ADMOR RABBI YOEL OF SATMAR. PROVENANCE:   The late Dr. David Mehler (with Mehler certification). During the 1960’s and 1970’s the Satmar Rebbe spent the winter months in Miami. There, he resided in the home of a well-to-do follower and former Sigheter, Mr. Al (Yehoshua Heschel) Moskovits and his wife, Mrs. Corinne (Tziporah) Moskovits. This pillow-case was gifted by the Moskovits’s to their nephew, David Mehler. Mehler subsequently commissioned two artists to create this special framed display. Throughout the ages, the great Chassidic Masters yearned to inherit the personal belongings of prior Tzaddikim. This is attributed to the B’aal Shem Tov, as recorded by his grandson, the Degel Machaneh Ephraim: “I heard from my grandfather… All that a man owns… even his personal possessions… are all sparks that draw from the root of his soul.” For more sources relating to the powerful Segulah inherent in the physical belongings of Tzadikim, see: Yerushalmi, Moed Kattan, f. 5b; Nedarim, f. 5a.
