Three large volumes from the beginning of the Nazi Period of this German-Jewish newspaper.      Founded in 1893, the Central Verein Zeitung (CVZ) was the voice of assimilated German Jewry and the country’s highest-circulating Jewish weekly. Its aim was to unify German citizens of Jewish faith, fight for Jews` rights as citizens and combat rising anti-Semitism. Commitment to the German Nation was an important part of the CVZ`s agenda and consequently it repudiated Zionism. The newspaper was forcibly shut down by the Nazis following Kristallnacht, November, 1938.
