MEARS, OTTO. Bill for Voucher, printed with manuscript additions and signed by Otto Mears. Payment by the Kansas City Bolt and Nut Company for key bolts. One page. 10th August, 1892. Russian-born Mears (1849-1931) came to California as a boy. In the Civil War he served in the 1st California Volunteers and under Kit Carson fought in the Navajo War. Significant to the growth of Colorado, Mears built roads, published newspapers, negotiated treaties with Indians, and was elected to the Colorado Legislature.
