Lilienthal states his pictures are “the best and are approved by the respective generals…Prices are $12.50 per hundred or 25 cents each.” With accompanying autograph addressed and stamped envelope. One page (with integral blank). 8vo. New Orleans, 25th May, 1865 Frankfurt-born Jewish photographer Theodore Lilienthal (1829-94) emigrated to New Orleans in 1853. Part of the first generation of photographers in New Orleans, Lilienthal was the city's most successful photographic pioneer.
