Liverpool-born Matilda Cohen (1820-88) was joined by some 250 of Philadelphia’s Jewish women who supported the war effort by sewing bandages, packing food, and even nursing wounded soldiers. Exemplifies the outstanding participation of America’s Jewish women in support of the war effort.
