(NETTER, GABRIEL). Autograph Letter Signed written by one C. Stoll concerning commercial matters and then turns to the state of the war, specifically to the Battle of Owensboro: “We had a fight kilded [sic] 26 of them. Our Colonel (Netter) was killed and two others.” With dramatic war content: “The only way to conquer the South is to burn all down… “My son is in the army. May our country be saved yet.” One page. 4to. Owensboro, Ky, 20th October, 1862 French-born Colonel Gabriel Netter (1836-62) was the Jewish commander of the 15th Kentucky Cavalry (Federal) and a fatality at the Battle of Owensboro.
