WOLFF, SOLOMON B.   CARTE-DE-VISITE PHOTOGRAPH.   Signed below: “Respectfully, S. Wolff.” Wolf (1845-1905) was a surgeon in the 165th and 181st Ohio Infantry, and the 7th Kentucky Cavalry. “According to an Adjutant General's report, the soldier was a Contract Surgeon, also known as an Acting Assistant Surgeon, for the US Army during his second US Army enlistment. This report shows his contract being terminated in June 1864, and him re-enlisting on the 165th OH, but his Union Staff Officer cards show him continuing at his post in Knoxville, TN through September 1864. It is unclear whether the soldier re-enlisted in OH, then returned to his post in Knoxville, or if he was kept on the rolls at the post beyond the end of his contract in error.” See https://www.shapell.org/civil-war-soldier-database/soldier/13261.
