V. C. Photog: Leon Van Loo Cincinnati. Captain Joseph Newburgh (1837-78) served from April 30, 1861 to July 10, 1864. Wounded in action Battle of Fredericksburg. Captain 4th VRC. Commanded Forty Totten, Defenses of Washington. Drowned when boiler exploded on steamboat. Funeral was held at The Plum Street Temple, Cincinnati, OH (now the Isaac M. Wise Temple).
