The unit is ranked among the top “hard fihting units” of the entire war. Jacobson took part in all major battles in the Army of the Potomac. At the Battle of Chancellorsville Jacobson and several other Union soldiers discovered and tracked the hidden advance of Stonewall Jackson’s force when it unleashed its surprise flank attack on the Union’s Eleventh Corp. Subsequently, Jacobson was awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery in front of the enemy at Chancellorsville. THE PHOTOGRAPH OFFERED IS EXCEEDINGLY RARE AND PERHAPS UNIQUE. CONDITION IS OUTSTANDING.
