(KABBALAH). Anonymous. Kabbalistic notes with mystical Names and diagrams. Manuscript in Hebrew and Judeo-Arabic, written in a North African square and cursive hand, including mystical “angelic” writing. c. 40 individual pages, extracted from a printed desk diary. Unbound. 8vo. (Israel, c. 1958). A CACHE OF KABBALISTIC SPELLS AND AMULETS.     Following the establishment of the State of Israel, violence and deteriorating conditions in Arab countries compelled hundreds of thousands of Jews to immigrate to the new state, bringing with them, their unique cultural and religious traditions.     From North Africa, this migration included many individuals proficient in kabbalat ma’asit, or practical kabbalah. These were men learned in kabbalah, and skilled in the writing of amulets for various types of protection, including prescriptions how to affect change in the natural world for the specific goals that petitioners requested.     Many of these men skilled in the fine art of practical kabbalah found employment in Israel in blue collar labor, thus, the kabbalists of such communities were also men (always) who ran food stalls and the like. Today practitioners of kabbalah tend to be professional, rabbinic adjacent types, so the phenomenon of ‘street kabbalists’ is a thing of the past.     Present here is collection of mystical writings by such a kabbalist, here written on the loose pages of 1958 appointment book. They comprise the kabbalistic repertoire of the mystic, including:    * The text and form of an amulet for pregnant women to wear around their neck.  * Instruction how to use wax figures to represent two people who were fighting and what to say to repair their relationship.  * How to win the love of a woman by writing her name on an apple; and much more.
