HERZL, THEODOR  (Father of Political Zionism, 1860-1904). Typed Letter Signed, written in German to Yitzchak Eisig Torczyner, on Zionist Congress letterhead. An invitation to a meeting to discuss an unspoken matter that appears to be of some contention. One page. Slight tear at folds, some foxing on right, signature smudged 4to. Vienna, 5th March, 1902.      PROVENANCE: Yitzchak Eisig Torczyner (1861-1933) and then by descent within the family.     An early Zionist activist, Yitzchak Eisig Torczyner was a confidant of Theodore Herzl. Members of the Hebrew national renaissance and early Zionist movement were frequent visitors at the home of Torczyner in Vienna. Eisig Torczyner’s son Menachem Nuchem Torczyner (1885-1948), was active in the Zionist movement in Belgium. Menachem Nuchem’s son Jacques Torczyner (1914-2013), was similarly active as a Zionist, in the United States.
