(HOLOCAUST). Compulsory German Judenstern. Yellow fabric imprinted with the word ”Jude” within a Star-of-David. The German word for ‘Jew’ in faux Hebrew lettering. Diam: 4.5 inches. (Germany) circa 1942 PROVENANCE: The Estate of an American-Jewish Judaica collector. On September 1, 1941, Reinhard Heydrich decreed that all Jews in the Reich were to wear a badge which consisted of a yellow Star of David on a black field with the word ”Jew” inscribed inside the star in German or in the local language. This applied to all German Jews and Jews in Germany's annexed territories.
