(HOLOCAUST). Compulsory Dutch Judenstern. Yellow fabric imprinted with the word ”Jood” within a Star-of-David. The Dutch word for ‘Jew’ in faux Hebrew lettering. Darkened. Diam: 5 inches. (Holland) circa 1942     PROVENANCE: The Estate of an American-Jewish Judaica collector.     Nazi Germany occupied the Netherlands in May 1940. In the Spring 1942, all Dutch Jewish men, women and children over the age of six, were required to wear a Yellow Star attached to their outer clothing at all times. The badges were imposed to make it easier to separate Jews from the rest of the population, as well as to humiliate them.
