GETTYSBURG ASSISTANT SURGEON. Serving for the entire duration of the war, Jonas H. Kauffman was in four Pennsylvania infantry regiments: The 6th, 128th, 151st and 52nd. At the Battle of Gettysburg the 151st realized a 76 percent casualty rate, the second highest of all Union regiments in the historic battle.
