American, 1957     Social realist painter and political cartoonist William Gropper (1897-1977) was the child of Jewish immigrants from Romania and the Ukraine. Gropper’s work was influenced by Cubism as seen in the angles and prismatic effects of color in the present piece. PROVENANCE: Consigned directly from the Artist’s family.
