First stamps issued by the nascent State of Israel, the three highest values. 250 mils * 500 mils * & 1000 mils (Scott nos. 7, 8, 9). Three full Sheets of 50, each with five Full Tabs. Well centered. No perforations. * 250m - #307320. * 500m - #001. * 1000m - #22. Original gum unmounted mint, well centered. VF (x3) & EXTREMELY RARE. 1948 THE ULTIMATE ISRAEL PHILATELIC RARITY. Set of three imperforate sheets of 50. Each with five Full Tabs. 250, 500 & 1000 mils. Never hinged. POST OFFICE FRESH. EXTREMELY RARE with only three imperforate sheets of these high values known according to Tsachor. HISTORY:     Readied in secret prior to the end of the British Mandate. An aspect that held back the printing of the stamps for the nascent State was that the national leadership had not as yet made a final decision on the name of the new country. Hence the country name “Israel” does not appear on the initial printing but rather Do'ar Ivri (”Hebrew Post.”)     
The stamps were issued on May 16, 1948. The denominations of the stamps are stated in mils, a British Mandate unit that Israel used until 1952. 
     The images appearing on the stamps are those of coins from the epoch of the Jewish-Roman wars, signifying the struggle for Jewish sovereignty in Eretz Israel, deemed apt for the situation of the emerging State. BALE CATALOGUE VALUE: $140,000+
