ORIGINAL ARTWORK of the 1948 Provisional Government Commemorative of Israel Postmark. ‘Minhelet Ha'Am Do’ar Jerusalem 16.5.1948.’ Black ink over pencil with corrections in white-out on yellowish card, 20 x 15.5 cm; design diameter 10.6 cm. Marked at bottom right 3.4 cm (the actual size of the postmark) and signed by the (unidentified) artist. Framed with penciled lines. FINE CONDITION. The outer margin is inscribed ‘Do’ar Yerushalayim [Jerusalem Post]’ and ‘Jerusalem.’ The inner circle contains the words ‘Minhelet Ha’Am [People’s Council, i.e the Provisional Government] and the date in Hebrew (7th of Iyar 5708) and English (16.5.1948).
