Aschkenazic cursive hand. ff. 212-243 (i.e. ff. 32). First and final leaves frayed, browned. Disbound. 4to. c. 1850.     From their first appearance in print in 1794, these fascinating letters - which reflect both sociological conditions in the early Chassidic movement, as well as theological concerns - have often been reprinted, although each edition varies slightly. The present manuscript demonstrates variants from the printed editions. PROVENANCE: Formerly in the collection of the late Prof. Abraham I. Katsh (1908-98) who possibly acquired it during the course of academic trips to the Soviet Union commencing in 1956.
