ELYASHIV, SHLOMO. (“The Leshem, ” 1841-1926). Leshem Shevo V’Achlamah - Hakdamoth V’She’arim . First Edition  with Kabbalistic charts. ff. 106. Title creased. Contemporary boards. Folio. Piotrkow, Mordechai Cedarbaum, 1908.     The first installment of R. Elyashiv’s four-part magnum opus, Hakdamoth V’She’arim outlines the Leshem’s Kabbalistic system and includes a discussion of R. Yisrael Sarug’s understanding of Lurianic mysticism.     Rabbi Elyashiv (Eliasov prior to Eretz Yisrael) studied in Telz and soon became known as one of Europe’s greatest Kabbalists. He taught Kabbalah to a young Rav Kook and with the later’s assistance, moved in 1922 to Eretz Yisrael, along with his daughter, son-in-law and grandson - the young R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv.
