Yechezkel Paneth (the Marei Yechezkel), who had been a disciple of R. Mendel of Rymanov, R. Menachem Mendel Paneth (1818-85) studied in the yeshiva of the Chasam Sofer in Pressburg. He served as rabbi of Urișor and Deyzh, and later as chief rabbi of Transylvania.
