This volume: ”Letters of a Traveling Jew about the Present State of the Religious System among the Protestants” is actually a sharply satirical attack against Christian Orthodoxy in the face of Enlightenment reforms. Here, Teuthorn, using the pseudonym Abraham ben Zodok, depicts the Jews as secretly celebrating the divisions between different Christian denominations. Placing such criticisms in the mouths of Jews has historical precedents dating back to the 15th century.
